Detailed information on Prosperity Treasure of Yiwu - Vintage 1960 Clay Urn Aged Malaysia Sheng Puerh

This tea was originally owned by Master Lin Ping Xiang of Malaysia, a cultural icon responsible for heavily influencing Gong Fu tea culture in the Chinese community in Malaysia from the 1970\'s and beyond.

Master Lin is known affectionately to many as \"Grandpa,\" who would appear in Tea shops in Kuala Lumpur with rare teas, teapots, stories, and an embodiment of Cha Dao, the Way of Tea.  He has had countless students including 2 who have heavily influenced Mountain Sanctuary Tea\'s approach to tea and ethos.

This Tea has been aged in Clay urns for it\'s entire 63 years of life, and was passed on from Master Lin in the year 2000, kept with the same aging recipe.

The dry cake enamates a strong smell of caramel, sweetness, and slight cookie notes similar to the 1988 shu we carry, but much lighter and more complex.

The tea liquor transforms into a silky smooth, viscous consistency that seems to feels like butter. The liquor splashes to the upper palette and coats the entire mouth and throat.

The Qi of this tea has to be experienced in order to be understood. It is well described that teas of this age and caliber are bought for the unique way they transform the consciousness of the drinker.  Thus, this tea deserves full presence and cultivation of stillness to honor the long journey it has gone to arrive here today, and to deeply recieve the wisdom this tea provides.

It is important to gather water of the highest quality in order to honor this tea, and prepare slowly and mindfully. Water is the biggest ceiling to extraordinary tea, and thus should be carefully considered in order to maximize the experience.

This tea would be best brewed gong fu with a Zisha (Zini) purple sand clay pot, with attention and much care.

It is recommended to brew this tea strong and with as much leaves to fill the teapot, in order to bring out the fullness of this vintage tea. Therefore, unless you have a very small teapot, it is recommended to not buy less than 6 grams for a serving size, even though we are offering it for sale by the gram. (Simply select 6 or more). Our recommendation is 7 grams for a 100ml pot.

This tea produces stunning texture that increases salivation in the mouth and deeply opens the throat and back of the nostrils.

After the 19th or 20th steeping, the tea transforms into a very sweet, almost super fine middle aged puerh taste (20-25 years) with the characteristic sweetness of Wild Tree Yiwu tea, a bit of sweet apple. The liquor also transforms from a dark, earthy red into more of a thick orange color, ending gold over later steepings. It retains the caramel cookie butter flavor and consistency throughout.

To our knowledge there are only 6 cakes left of this tea and particular storage. It is an incredible honor to carry this tea and to homage a long lineage of Tea Masters, incredible patience and care, and ultimately the Spirit of Tea.
