The ubiquitous National Health Service (NHS) model 524 acetate frame, known for its utilitarian and commonplace qualities, suited Morrissey\'s countercultural aims, and she chose it for her new band, The Smiths, in 1982. Cutler & Gross paid homage to this frame, as director Marie Wilkinson\'s first frames were NHS glass frames, personalized with nail polish and glitter. This customization introduced her to the world of design. These commonplace characteristics have been elevated to the extraordinary by new design details, which increase the eyepiece size to 52mm, incorporate vintage-inspired Oyster temples, and the arrowhead design on the temples, last seen on the 1346 model.
