The lens lightens and darkens based on the UV light emissions. When you walk outside, the lens darkens and helps eliminate glare bright sun. 


The lenses also include a high end AR (anti-reflective) coating on the inside and outside of each lens. AR coatings are extremely helpful when wearing these in bright conditions. The coating significantly cuts down on glare and helps you see much more clearly in the sun, or inside in harsh lighting conditions. The photochromic lens is made from lightweight CR39, an aspheric, scratch resistant material.
