Ginkgo Imperium Necklace

The Patina Collection — Ancient Roman Glass

Product Description

Ancient history meets timeless nature in the Ginkgo Imperium Necklace, a striking piece from The Patina Collection featuring authentic Ancient Roman glass beads nearly 2,000 years old.

Each glass bead in the strand once formed part of a vessel used during the Roman Empire. After centuries buried beneath the earth, natural minerals created the luminous patina Roman glass is known for today—soft tones of aqua, sea-green, and olive layered with delicate mineral textures that can only be formed by time itself. Designer Diana Kauffman spent more than thirteen years carefully collecting these rare beads, making each piece in this collection exceptionally limited.

The necklace is finished with a hand-forged sterling silver toggle clasp, crafted in Diana’s Sewickley studio. The sculptural clasp adds an artisanal touch while allowing the necklace to be worn easily and securely.

At the center hangs a dramatic electroformed sterling silver ginkgo leaf pendant, created from a genuine ginkgo leaf and preserved in sterling silver. The ginkgo tree—often called a “living fossil”—has existed for more than 200 million years, making it a powerful symbol of endurance, resilience, and longevity.

Paired with Roman glass that has already endured two millennia of history, the pendant creates a meaningful dialogue between ancient civilization and the enduring beauty of the natural world.

Each necklace is entirely unique. The organic shapes, colors, and mineral deposits within the Roman glass ensure that no two pieces can ever be identical.

A rare artifact of history, finished with a symbol of timeless life.
