This 4-piece ornament set recalls Republic Airlines of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The airline operated from 1979 until 1986, with large connecting hub operations at Minneapolis, Detroit, and Memphis. Republic was formed from the 1979 acquisition of Southern Airways of Atlanta by North Central Airlines of Minneapolis. The merged airline then acquired Hughes Airwest in 1980. Republic was then acquired by Northwest Airlines in 1986.
