It\'s probably accurate to say that Chronographe Suisse started life as a watch parts manufacturer, they produced a number of relatively inexpensive watches, which were often sold through jewellers and signed with their own name in addition to the Chronographe Suisse name.

Chronographe Suisse didn\'t produce their own movements, however, and most of their watches are found with Landeron, Venus, or Valjoux movements inside, which were relatively basic chronograph movements but solid workhorses which hold up well even by today\'s standards. 

The Chronographe Suisse branded watches became popular in Swiss airport lounge stores for those looking for a memento of their visit to Switzerland - and why not? What’s On Offer 

At 38mm, this gold-plated chronograph is meaty and substantial on the wrist yet wears very comfortably. Most of the Chrongraphe Suisse branded watches seen for sale in this day and age are the smaller 35/36mm cases!

The original ivory dial is in nice shape with just a speckling of a slight patina in the centre. Applied Arabic numerals are alternated with applied gold hour plots and two subdials at 3 and 6 o\'clock offer a nice balance.

The oblong stylised pushers control the start-stop and flyback function, there is also a telemeter scale around the outer edge of the dial which enables the user to compute the speed of a travelling object over a set distance. 

The outer track and central seconds hand offer a nice punch of red adding a sporting touch, and the gold plated case and dial furniture add an air of luxury. 

Paired with a tan leather strap with a corresponding gold pin buckle, this is a lot of watch for your money - just as was the brand\'s original intention, an affordable luxury Swiss chronograph with tremendous appeal.
